Covid passes in Serbia from Saturday; "Disastrous situation, vaccine drive going poorly"

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic announced earlier that the Crisis HQ would meet this week and considered whether anything more needs to be done

A meeting of the Crisis HQ for suppression of the coronavirus epidemic was held today in the Palace of Serbia, and a decision has been made to introduce Covid passes in Serbia, it has been confirmed for Telegraf.

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic said that the coronavirus situation is disastrous and is not calming down, while the vaccination drive is still going poorly.

She said that the recommendation is for everyone over the age of 12 to get vaccinated.

"Starting at 10 pm on Saturday we are introducing Covid passes in closed spaces in all hospitality industry establishments. From October 23 at 10 pm you will not be able to stay in a closed space of a hospitality establishment without a Covid pass," the prime minister stressed.

She announced earlier that the Crisis HQ would meet this week and considered whether anything more needs to be done.

Brnabic also said that a modality was being sought to introduce Covid passes in a way that would prevent abuse and forgeries.

Latest coronavirus report

By 3 pm on October 19, 2021, Serbia had a total of 1,062,960 confirmed Covid cases.

Since the previous report, samples were taken from 25,339 people, of which 7,664 came back positive.

274 patients were on ventilators.

A total of 6,045,768 people were tested by that time.

By 3 pm on Tuesday, 57 people died during the previous 24 hours as a result of Covid.

The total number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia was 9,214.

6,679 patients who had coronavirus were hospitalized in health care institutions and temporary hospitals in the Republic of Serbia.
