57 people were arrested this year for using minors for pornographic purposes on the internet
"We must never turn our heads when we see or sense child abuse"
Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic today said that since the beginning of this year, complaints have been filed against 165 people for exploiting minors for pornographic purposes on the internet.
"Since 2010, Operation Armageddon has been ongoing, aimed at suppressing the use of minors for pornographic purposes on the internet. Since the start of this year, 101 complaints have been filed against 165 people for committing 188 crimes, while 57 people have been arrested. In 2017, the National Contact Center for Child Safety on the Internet was established, and in 2021, 35 reports for urgent action were received," said Brnabic.
"We must never turn our heads when we see or sense child abuse. The whole society must work together. The Ministry of the Interior held another meeting with the commissioner in order to make harmonization of procedures go faster," the prime minister added.
"When it comes to digital violence, the whole world is facing it and we especially wanted to dedicate ourselves to protecting children on the internet, on social networks, where they are now at an ever younger age. That is why, on my initiative, the subject Digital World was introduced from the first grade of primary school. Through this subject, children learn how to safely use digital devices, why they should not leave personal data, how to react to inappropriate content," said Brnabic.
