Vucic on new actions in Kosovo-Metohija: Reason unlikely to prevail after their political debacle

"I hope that reason will prevail. It's difficult for that to happen after the political debacle they experienced," said the president of Serbia

I hope that reason will prevail among the Albanians, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said after the ceremonial opening of the branch of the Magna Seating factory in Aleksinac, responding to announcements coming from Albin Kurti's deputy that new actions will be launched after elections in Kosovo and Metohija.

"I hope that reason will prevail. It's difficult for that to happen after the political debacle they experienced. We must be ready for that and expect it, because what they have emphasized is that they will not fulfill the Brussels agreement," said the president of Serbia.

Responding to a conclusion that each election process in Kosovo and Metohija brings up the narrative that the state is forcing the Serbs to go to the polls, he said that the state never forced anybody.

"We never forced anyone, except that I thought it was better to turn out than not to turn out. I didn’t hide it, and I said it publicly. We attack Pristina for not fulfilling the Brussels agreement, and then are we supposed not to fulfill it ourselves. How then can we go out in front of anyone and ask for the formation of the ZSO," he explained.

He pointed out that people in Serb communities went to the polls in incomparably larger numbers, on average 60 percent, while in Albanian-majority places the turnout was 40 percent.

"That speaks to the motivation of the people, and about who was motivated the most," he underlined.
