Dr. Ivo Udovicic: "Youngest patient is a new mother in serious condition. We'll have 70 dead a day"
The colonel stressed that the population has relaxed
The capacities of the Karaburma Military Medical Center (VMC) have been filled, Colonel Dr. Ivo Udovicic has told TV Prva today.
As he stated, those discharged are replaced by newly admitted patients within an hour, because pressure on hospitals is great.
"The youngest patient is a woman who gave birth three months ago. She is in serious condition, we are just getting ready to intubate her. Her life is in danger, the baby stayed at home," said Udovicic.
He added that we are arriving at an absurd situation.
"80 percent of the capacity is filled by people who have not been vaccinated. Those who have been vaccinated have to get treatments in the private sector and have to pay for it. They (the unvaccinated) are not showing solidarity, they occupy the capacities and pay nothing," the commander of the VMC explained.
He stressed that the population has relaxed. According to him, vaccinated persons receiving treatment at the VMC Karaburma are mostly the elderly with weakened immunity.
"We lost the whole summer, when there was room to get vaccinated. We have relaxed, we do not adhere to the prescribed measures, there are more than 50 percent of people in (public) transport. There are forecasts that we will have 70 deaths a day in the next month," he pointed out and added that we were initially leaders in terms of vaccination, and now we are at the top of the list in terms of the number of infected people.
