Horror in Pljevlja: Man beats girl, pushes her in a car, and sells her to the "groom" for 500 euros
One person was arrested for kidnapping and selling an underage female
Montenegrin police arrested M.V. (26) from Bijelo Polje on suspicion of kidnapping and human trafficking.
On September 20, the Pljevlja police were informed by the Center for Social Welfare that two people had reported the disappearance of a minor female from the settlement of Trlica in Pljevlja.
Members of the police immediately undertook activities to locate the missing minor and investigative activities led them to suspect that M.V. struck the victim in the head several times and forcibly dragged her into his vehicle, after which she was, as suspected, transported to Podgorica, where he sold her to a male person for of 500 euros for the purpose of entering into an illegal marriage.
That person kept the minor locked in a house in the Konik settlement. After learning that the police were looking for her, he allowed her to leave the house on September 29.
M.V. was located and arrested in Bijelo Polje on the order of the state prosecutor from the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, on suspicion of having committed the aforementioned criminal offenses.
Members of the Police Administration are undertaking activities to establish all the facts related to the said event and possible involvement of other persons from Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje or Podgorica.
