Yesterday, a new record was broken in Serbia in the number of confirmed Covid cases in 24 hours - there were as many as 8,467 new cases, and at the same time, the number of first examinations increased.

There are crowds in front of Covid clinics, and we noticed one this morning before 8 am at the Health Station in Vojvode Stepe Street.

Judging by what they say in the Emergency Service, citizens were seeing doctors during the night because of coronavirus symptoms, which is why ambulance crews had a large number of transports of Covid patients.

As Tanjug has been told, ambulance crews performed a total of 21 inter-clinical transports to Covid hospitals by 6 am this morning, but a larger number of Covid patients were waiting to be transported to the Covid hospital in Krusevac after 7 am.

Dr. Ivana Stefanovic from the Emergency Service told RTS that in 24 hours, they transported as many as 45 patients to triage centers, performed 72 inter-clinical transports to Covid hospitals in Krusevac, Niska Banja, Mladenovac.

She also stressed that a woman was taken ill in public transport that she was taking even though she knew she was positive.

"The situation with coronavirus is not good. The numbers are spiking, but what's even more worrying is that yesterday we received a call that someone got taken ill in public transport, on the corner of Krusevacka and Ustanicka streets in Belgrade. It turned out that the woman knew that she was Covid positive," Dr. Stefanovic.

According to her, the woman had symptoms and confirmed Covid for three days, and yet she took public transport to get to the Infectious Diseases Clinic.

"Don't do that, you will infect everyone else taking the bus, such people are transported by ambulance," the doctor stressed.

She pointed out that this behavior endangeres everyone else, regardless of the reason for it.

"You do not know if there is another patient on the bus who has a different disease and who cannot receive the vaccine. We must act responsibly even when we are not feeling well. The Emergency Service is tasked with helping such patients," Dr. Stefanovic stressed.
