Belgraders fill all slots for subsidized purchase of bicycles in one day
The City of Belgrade has set aside 10 million dinars for this project from the budget for 2021, as a measure to reduce air pollution, as envisaged by the Action Plan for Air Quality in Belgrade that is being implemented under the slogan, "Are you buying a bike? Save 5,000"
Responding to a public call of the City of Belgrade and the association "Jugo Cikling Kampanja" to help them finance the purchase of bicycles, almost 2,100 of our fellow citizens responded in one day, which filled all the slots for this year, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic announced on Facebook.
"The City of Belgrade has set aside 10 million dinars for this project from the budget for 2021, as a measure to reduce air pollution, as envisaged by the Action Plan for Air Quality in Belgrade that is being implemented under the slogan, 'Are you buying a bike? Save 5,000'," wrote Vesic.
All individuals with a valid ID card and residence in the territory of Belgrade had the right to participate in this campaign. The amount of funds allocated to citizens under this public invitation is 5,000 dinars.
"I thank all residents of Belgrade for the great response to the public call. This year, we wanted to see what the interest of the citizens was like. It is now clear that this measure is the need of our people, so the amount for subsidies will be five times higher in next year's budget and will amount to 50 million dinars. Expect a new competition in January! Belgrade is winning!," said Vesic.
