Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister in charge of coordinating security services Dritan Abazovic apologized on his own behalf to the citizens in Cetinje because of the events on the day of the enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral, and said that "Montenegro is not only the Church, not only the Komitadji, not only Montenegrins, not only Serbs."

In a post on the Facebook page of the Civic Movement URA, of which he is the leader, Abazovic wrote that a "bitter taste" remained after September 5 and that, as he said, "the feelings of the people of Cetinje were hurt."

"I'm sorry and I apologize on my own behalf. Montenegro is not only the Church, not only the Komitadji, not only Montenegrins, the only Serbs. Montenegro are all of us together. We must find solutions and preserve Montenegro," Abazovic wrote.

During the two days, September 4 and 5, protests were held in Cetinje against the enthronement in the Cetinje Monastery of Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), roads were blocked with rocks, dumpsters, cars, and car tires, which were set on fire at the height of the demonstrations.

The demonstrators, supported by Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic with his presence in Cetinje, made it impossible for the enthronement as an exclusively Church ceremony to take place in the usual way in the presence of SPC hierarchs, representatives of Orthodox churches from around the world and the believers.
