Ministry of Foreign Affairs releases videos to celebrate Day of Serb Unity
The promotional videos puts the emphasis on the fact that the Serbian flag has been carried by the best and bravest and that they defended it with their lives, as well as that none fell into the hands of the enemy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published videos on its official YouTube channel ahead of Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, which Serbia and the Serb Republic (RS) are marking together on September 15. The Ministry is inviting citizens to display the Serbian tricolor flag on that day.
One of the promotional videos puts the emphasis on the fact that the Serbian flag has been carried by the best and bravest and that they defended it with their lives, as well as that none fell into the hands of the enemy, reports Tanjug.
The message is that the Serb nation is "one and indivisible" and that we have a common past and future, while that September 15 is our day - Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.
"It (the flag) is with us when we rejoice and when we celebrate victories, because we are proud of who we are. For ancestors and descendants, for past and future glory, let's fly the tricolor," says the video which invites citizens to mark that day by displaying the national flag.
In a separate spot, actor Petar Bozovic is seen in front of legendary Serbian military leader Zivojin Misic's home in Struganik, recalling that on September 15, 1918, the Serbian Army made up of invincible Serbian peasants and volunteers from all Serb lands, set out to break through the Macedonian Front.
"Voivode Misic ordered them: To the death, just do not stop. With unwavering faith and hope, heroes, forward towards the fatherland," the famous actor reminded us.
He stressed that at that time, the Serbdom resurrected and that the Serbian tricolor was flying in all free Serb territories.
"People, display the flag on your windows," Bozovic made an appeal.
Playwright and academician Dusan Kovacevic is seen saying that there are many things that divide us - borders, rivers, mountains, but that there are more of those that unite us.
"We are united by our Serbian language, culture, our alphabet and spirituality. We are united by the joy and pride because of our glorious history. Dear friends, let's salute our flag on September 15," Kovacevic, who was filmed at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala, said.
The initiative to mark Serb Unity Day was also supported by actor Milan Vasic who said that the flag is a symbol of our victories, our pride, and represents our bulwark.
Vasic stressed that Serbdom is where the Serbian flag is flying.
"We love our tricolor and let's not allow anyone to ever separate and divide us again, because we are one nation and the same heart beats in all of us. That is why, brothers and sisters, on September 15 - put the tricolor on your windows," is Vasic's message, filmed in the medieval town of Zvecan in Kosovo and Metohija.
