Two-day talks at technical level to be held between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels
Meetings are expected to start at 9;30 am, first a bilateral one between Pristina and EU delegations, and then between Belgrade and the EU
Representatives of Belgrade and Pristina are starting a two-day dialogue at the technical level in Brussels, with the mediation of EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak. The delegation from Belgrade is led by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.
Meetings are expected to start at 9;30 am, first a bilateral one between Pristina and EU delegations, and then between Belgrade and the EU.
All thee sides are scheduled to meet tomorrow.
It is expected that Belgrade will insist on implementation of the agreements reached so far, and above where it refers to the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (SZO).
Other topics are missing persons, energy, freedom of movement. However, there has been no agreement on the topics during the previous meetings, neither at the technical nor at the political level, RTS reports from Brussels.
There is no doubt that the goal is to make some progress in this technical dialogue.
Miroslav Lajcak stated earlier that no agreement had been reached, and that it was only agreed to continue the dialogue. The EU can hardly let Belgrade and Pristina meet once again only to say that they have not agreed on anything and that the differences between them are great, and this two-day meeting at the expert level serves to avoid that, among other things.
It was said that the two sides will meet at the highest political level in September, but there is still no confirmation that this will happen, and when.
This is the first meeting since July, when Presidents of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Albin Kurtin spoke, and when the only agreement to come of it was that the dialogue would continue at the technical level.
