There had been dozens of reports of domestic violence in previous years against Aleksandar B. (40), who is suspected of killing his father Djordje B. (68) with an ax on Friday, but his parents never wanted to testify before a prosecutor.

The Center for Social Welfare in Leskovac has stated that indictments had been filed against Aleksandar several times for harassing his father, mother and brother with whom he lived.

"After the police would intervene, we would forward the whole case to the competent prosecutor's office several times, but the parents constantly refused to testify against their son, and that's where it would all end, until, unfortunately, this tragic act. We also have in our records that social workers repeatedly tried to convince the parents to testify against their abusive son, but they refused categorically," the director of the Center, Predrag Momcilovic, told Kurir.

According to him, in almost 90 percent of cases of domestic violence in Leskovac, the victims give up on testifying against the perpetrators.

During an argument on Friday afternoon, Aleksandar hit his father in the back of the head with an ax, after throwing a brick at him in the yard. The man died on the spot from the injuries inflicted on him with the ax.
