When it gets the rotating presidency over the EU next year, the Czech Republic will insist on getting a date for Serbia's entry into the EU, President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ivica Dacic has said at the end of his two-day visit to the Czech Republic.

Dacic spoke yesterday in Prague with Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhanek and Senate President Milos Vistrcil.

In a statement for Tanjug, Dacic said that his visit further improved bilateral relations between the two countries, but added that what also contributed to that was a series of meetings held by officials of the two countries this year, including the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Prague and the visit of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis to Serbia.

He added that preparations for the visit of Czech President Milos Zeman to Serbia are underway.

"Regardless of the fact that there are differences in the statements, because not everyone (every Czech official) is saying what President Zeman has said, it is obvious that there is a desire for these relations to be not only friendly, but also brotherly," said Dacic.

He added that it was agreed that the two countries' parliaments should meet every year, to work on the getting the Czech Republic and Serbia as close as possible.

"This is another indicator that the Czech Republic respects Serbia very much and that it is very grateful for the help in the form of 100,000 vaccines that we donated during the Covid crisis," said Dacic.
