In the past few days, the number of people infected with coronavorus in Kragujevac has increased, and the Institute for Public Health in that city has identified three main causes for the worsening of the epidemiological situation.

As Telegraf.rs has been told, they are the emergence of a new strain of the virus, a large number of unvaccinated people, and non-compliance with the protective measures.

"There are several reasons for the increased number of infected people, with one of the most important being the mutated Delta strain of the virus, which is definitely spreading faster and easier.

What could be seen in the past period is that vaccination is not proceeding at the expected pace, and therefore we have a large number of unvaccinated, primarily young people," representatives of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Institute of Public Health Kragujevac said about the first two causes behind the worsening situation in the city.

In addition to the third reason, they added summer vacations, which people went on more often this year than was the case in 2020.

"Then, non-compliance with prevention measures for a prolonged period of time, because a large number of citizens are not wearing masks indoors, do not respect distancing, go to mass gatherings such as concerts, parties, weddings. The increased number of people who returned from summer vacations is another important reason for the growing number of positive cases," they said.

Regarding the measures that are being taken, they point out that the measures that are valid in the territory of the whole of Serbia are in force, and that certain decisions will be "made and corrected based on the instructions of the City Crisis HQ".

Despite the warning numbers, which in the past few days reached as many as 164 new cases per day, students will go to school tomorrow according to the first model of organization of classes - without division into groups, and with classes lasting 45 minutes.

In the days behind us in Kragujevac, the number of infected people has been growing. On August 22 there were 70 infected, on the 23rd there were 14 more - 84, over the following 24 hours there were 145, on August 25 there were even more - 164, and since August 26 there has been a slight decrease to 149 and 142 on the 27th. According to data for August 28, 127 new cases had been confirmed, and by 8 pm on the 29th, the number was 88.
