"Belgrade respects Washington Agreement, Pristina campaigning for recognition of so-called Kosovo"

The problem is that Pristina, that is, Albin Kurti, made it known that the agreements reached by the previous administrations in Pristina are not valid for them, which means that the Washington Agreement is not valid for them either, and that they would not respect and implement it - Milovan Drecun thinks

In a week, the part of the Washington Agreement that refers to a moratorium on new recognitions of the so-called Kosovo, that is, on Serbia's campaign of securing withdrawals of recognitions of Kosovo and Metohija will expire, and the head of the Serbian National Assembly Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, points out that Pristina is violating that Agreement all the time, while Belgrade adheres to it and that it is up to the US to makea move now, becauset their reaction has been lacking the whole time.

Drecun assessed that the problem is that Pristina, i.e. Prime Minister Albin Kurti, made it known that the agreements reached by the previous administrations in Pristina are not valid for them, which meant that the Washington Agreement is not valid for them either and that they would not respect it and implement it.

"They have been violating it in the most brutally for a long time." Drecun said and recalled that Kurti refuses to join the "Open Balkans" initiative.

He points out that Pristina is announcing reciprocity measures, which, he says, will endanger the free flow of people, goods, services and capital, and are already campaigning for new recognitions for membership in some international organizations, and acting as if the Washington Agreement does not exist.

On the other hand, Drecun points out, Serbia respects the Agreement, recalling that the administration of the current US president Joseph Biden also said that they remain on the position of respecting that Agreement.

He estimates that it is probable that Kurti expected Biden to give up on the Agreement because it was signed during the time Donald Trump was in office.

"Now we need to see the reaction of the United States. It has been absent. Let's see what will happen with the study that was done about the accumulation of Gazivode Lake," said Drecun.

He also recalled that Serbia will build the Nis-Pristina highway.

"Now the ball is not in our yard, it should be up to the United States, to make a clear statement about that Agreement,"  Drecun pointed out.

He also stressed that Pristina is already openly working on a recognition campaign, calling on some countries to openly recognize them, and reminded that Turkish President Erdogan joined the campaign, who said that he and Biden would intensify activities for securing new recognitions.

"That is not a coincidence, it is an organized campaign," Drecun points out.

He stated that Serbia, when that part of the Agreement expires, will continue to do what it did before, to fight for Kosovo not to be treated as a state.

"Many countries have withdrawn their recognitions, the fake state (of Kosovo) has been prevented from joining Interpol, UNESCO. We will do everything to prevent the so-called the state of Kosovo from showing up anywhere. And Kurti wants to participate in activities where Kosovo is treated as a state. That is why the fight at that level continues," said Drecun.
