"MFA monitors situation in Afghanistan, we are trying to safely evacuate Serbian citizen from Kabul"

Serbia is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and is trying to safely evacuate another one of our citizens who is still in Kabul, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Nemanja Starovic has told RTS.
The Taliban have declared a new state in Afghanistan, "the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan," which jihadists around the world see as victory over the United States.
"This is the end of the process of US negotiations with the Taliban, which has been going on for years, but no one expected that things would unfold so quickly. We have never been a party to the conflict in Afghanistan. At one point, we even provided good services during negotiations between the parties to the conflict, but not as mediators - above all in the form of ensuring the safety of participants and guaranting discretion," Starovic said.
Two Serbian citizens, Marko Pribak and Aleksandar Cvejic, who have been evacuated from Afghanistan, arrived in Serbia during the previous night.
"We all followed the evacuation process of our citizens with great attention. It is important to say that we have another citizen of ours in Kabul. We are monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and we are doing everything to evacuate her to one of the surrounding countries, and then to Serbia. I will personally go to the capital of Uzbekistan next week to see if and in what way her evacuation can be accelerated," said Starovic.
US troops were withdrawing from Afghanistan in an orderly manner, but chaos erupted during the evacuation of civilians. Many foreign nationals are still in Kabul, there is talk of more than 10,000 people, but shocking images of those trying to leave the country testify to the lack of solidarity, as some countries are evacuating only their own citizens.
"We can expect a new wave of refugees and that is why international cooperation is important in order to manage the migration process in a smart way. In the previous wave of refugees, over a million people passed through our country. None of them went hungry or thirsty and everything was happening in a humane and civilized way. But we must be aware that there is little we can do alone without cooperation with other countries," Starovic pointed out.
