"Serbian food market is safe. We will inform about anything controversial, like with ice cream"
Minister Nedimovic appeared on TV today and also also touched on the payment of milk premiums
"From the aspect of food safety, Serbia is in a much better situation than five or six years ago," Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic said today.
He added that there are now capacities, fully equipped laboratories and institutions in the country.
When asked about a batch of infected hake fish that was recently found at the Gostun border crossing, Nedimovic said that it was "an example of an attempt at criminal activity like any other."
He stressed that the Serbian market is safe.
"As soon as we possibly find something, we will inform the public, like we did with ice cream," the minister pointed out. When asked about the payment of milk premiums, and reactions from Novo Milosevo that subsidies have not been not paid for a year and a half, he said that "payments are not delayed" and that any omission that occurs there "can only be a matter between milk producers and dairies."
"We paid out the first quarter, now we are working on the second," the minister underlined.
