Vucic: Situation with coronavirus is not naive, numbers will grow more and more
"Some in the region are brutally lying when it comes to the number of tested and newly infected people," said Vucic
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic was on TV Pink on Tuesday evening. He spoke, among other things, about ecology, which becomes a topic, he said, only when you live in an organized country, when you no longer worry about having a job.
Speaking about whether he had the opportunity to watch any Olympic events, the president of Serbia said:
"I followed the Olympics as much as I could. The hardest was in 2012 because the games were in London, so everything was happening in prime time. It was much easier now with Tokyo," said Vucic and added that it was a competition between nations and states.
"I am especially proud, in London we shared the fourth and fifth place in the region in terms of the number of medals won, today Serbia is second, right behind Hungary," said Vucic, adding that he will tell the Olympians everything in "a minute" when he receives the Serbian Olympic team.
The president congratulated all the medal winners and their coaches and noted that in two days, all medal winners will receive prizes, 70,000 euros for gold, 60,000 for silver, 50,000 for bronze.
Vucic also announced large investments in football infrastructure.
"The construction of the National Stadium is starting, but also of football stadiums in other places, so that football is not played only in Belgrade. We do not need our league to be composed only of clubs from Belgrade and Novi Sad."
The landfill in Vinca
"That topic will be closed by the New Year," Vucic said about the landfill in Vinca.
"Such things happen and will happen. We've always had that, in two days that problem no longer exists, we have moderately good air quality. The fire (at the landfill) will be completely extinguished in the next two days."
Speaking about the fire in Vinca, the president said that in 2012, fires in Serbia were not even a topic because we were hungry and people were losing jobs.
"Now that is the main topic. The French and the Japanese are taking care of the landfill and that problem will be solved by the end of the year. Such things happen. They happen across Europe," Vucic stressed.
He said that when the country is well looked after, there is no place for separate interests.
"We export electricity to North Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria. Everyone else (in the region) is importing it. So when you take care of the country and energy efficiency that is what happens. We are looking at how we can increase energy efficiency. We will do everything we can to remove landfills, build sewage systems and build a green agenda. The topic of the landfill in Vinca will be closed by the new Year. That is in the Serbia 2020-2025 project."
"But for us to we give up on having mines - you go and tell people in Kostolac or Kolubara that they will be out of work. We are working on a green agenda, but we will not agree to close construction sites, not to build apartments or stadiums. We do not agree to that kind of selfishness. Like the Chinese in Bor. Yesterday, I asked in a very sharp way, unfortunately, to build that collector for purification. But did we wonder when they were supposed to invest money there. Zijin holds up everything there for us, the whole of Bor, the whole area. Nobody is interested in that, nobody asks anything. My job as the president of the Republic is to find a middle ground and for the country to move forward," he said.
The Belivuk clan
According to Vucic, if they said that the FBI was conducting an investigation, it means that foreigners know everything.
"It's clear to everyone today who has faith in them (the crime clan). I don't know what else they could add, that Vulin and I slaughtered them? You can see exactly how mobsters manage the media and the parties, I am proud of the fact that this is not the party I lead. We will fight criminals and the mafia and we will defeat them. This week or the next I am waiting to be summoned to the prosecution so it can be seen if I was telling the truth or not. There is no more fear from either that clan or others. We will still have a lot to say on that," stated Vucic.
Coronavirus numbers are rising
Speaking about coronavirus, Vucic said that some in the region are brutally lying when it comes to the number of tested and newly infected people.
"Of course the numbers are growing, we don't have a large number of vaccinated people. You can see exactly the waves of people returning from vacation, how that's happening to us. We have everything, we could be more resistant... I can't violate the Constitution, what can I do there. And if we didn't have vaccines, they would have hung me on Terazije Square," said Vucic.
Earlier in the day, President Vucic spoke with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, to whom he said that he considered it important that our countries, through cooperation, contribute to political and peaceful resolution of all disputes, conflicts and open issues.
