Big fire in Dorcol localized from boats as well: There were fears of dangerous substances

The flames engulfed an area of more than 700 square meters on three floors

A lot of plastic, rubber, textiles and other goods are currently burning in a big fire that engulfed the customs warehouse in the Port of Belgrade early this morning.

"We still don't have precise information about what is inside, we don't know yet whether there are dangerous substances, but we are acting successfully at this moment and we hope for a quick localization," the commander of the Fire Brigade, Milos Majstorovic, told TV Pink this morning.

Pripadnici Sektora za vanredne situacije, lokalizovali su požar oko 9 časova. U ovoj vatrenoj stihiji nema povređenih osoba, a dogašivanje je u toku.

Members of the Sector for Emergency Situations in the meanwhile localized the blaze and are now working to extinguish it. Nobody has been injured.

"At the moment, 46 firefighters with 13 vehicles are engaged in extinguishing the fire, and a fire boat with 50 firefighters-rescuers arrived on the Danube, who will try to extinguish the fire from the other side of the warehouse," Telegraf.rs learned earlier.

The flames engulfed an area of more than 700 square meters on three floors.

"There are no injuries among the firefighters. We still don't have information about the Port of Belgrade workers, I hope there are none among them," said Majstorovic.

He pointed out that due to the variety of goods that were in the warehouse, it was difficult to put the blaze out.

He said that teams of firefighters are working in shifts because of the severity of the fire. Occasionally glass is heard shattering as well as minor detonations, and the warehouse could not be approached this morning.

The cause of the fire will be determined after the investigation, that is, as the commander of the Fire Brigade added, that should happen in the next ten or so days.
