Dacic and Brnabic discuss changes to Serbian Constitution

President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ivica Dacic today held regular consultations with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and representatives of the Ministry of Justice, on the issue of changing the Constitution, in the field of the judiciary.

Activities of the Working Group formed by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and Legislation, which is working on drafting an act to change the Constitution, were discussed during the meeting, the parliament said in a statement.

The working group, which is drafting the act to change the Constitution, is scheduled to hold an online meeting with the Venice Commission in the second half of July.

The Assembly of Serbia will send an invitation to representatives of the Venice Commission to visit Serbia at the beginning of September, in order to monitor all activities related to the change of the highest legal act.

The working group consists of experts, law professors and representatives of scientific institutes, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Association of Prosecutors and the Association of Judges.

It has been stressed that the Venice Commission praised the composition of the working group and the importance of a transparent and inclusive process.
