A responsible attitude towards nature and a desire to enjoy its beauty are quite enough to visit Lake Borkovac.

You must know immediately that this lake is not under the supervision of utility services, and that all visitors are expected to clean after themselves. More precisely, to behave as if they were at home, and to leave the area around the lake clean.

About 2 kilometers separates Borkovac Lake and Ruma. Sremska Mitrovica is about 20 kilometers away, Novi Sad about 40, while Belgrade is about 60 kilometers away.

Vacationing on Lake Borkovac

Although the slopes of Fruska Gora and the town of Ruma are nearby, many people want to stay precisely near this lake. Fortunately, that is possible, although Borkovac Lake is considered to be a proper oasis.

There is the ecological Aqua Camp which offers accommodation in small houses on the water. Nearby is a three-star hotel that has a number of amenities.

Fun for everyone

Regardless of whether or not you are a fan of fishing, you can also enjoy swimming on Lake Borkovac. The average water temperature during the hottest period of the year is close to 30 degrees Celsius.

The lake has well maintained beaches with showers, but also other accompanying facilities necessary for a pleasant stay.

There are also swimming pools nearby, where even night swimming is possible, which is a special attraction.

Fishing on Borkovac Lake

A paradise for fishermen from the surrounding areas, but also from the rest of the country, and even from neighboring countries - Borkovac Lake is very rich in fish stock.

In addition to perch, carp, and catfish, it is possible to catch Prussian carp here, but also a species known as American catfish, as well as other types of fish.

Two rules that fishermen must follow if they want to enjoy their hobby on this lake are particularly interesting.

The first is that they are not allowed to go fishing during the night, because nighttime fishing is prohibited on Borkovac Lake.

The second is perhaps even more interesting. If they happen to catch a fish that weighs more than 8 kilograms, it is their obligation to release it back into the lake.
