First photos from level crossing accident near Sabac: Train completely destroys car, driver killed
This is the second accident on Serbian railways in just half a day
As the Railway Infrastructure company announced today, a man was killed when a train collided with his car at a level crossing near Sabac. As can be seen in the photos, the car has been completely destroyed.
According to information from Railway Infrastructure, the driver (71) was trying to bypass the crossing that was closed when the train hit the car. He could not be saved. The train was traveling from Stitar to Belgrade.
The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) was immediately informed about the accident, and railway traffic on this section was interrupted on Monday morning.
Serbian Railway Infrastructure offered their condolences to the family of the victim.
This is the second accident on Serbian railroads in just half a day - both happened on level crossings equipped with modern signalization, when drivers broke traffic rules.
Last night at 7:55 pm, a freight train collided with a car at a level crossing secured with half-bumpers and traffic lights located between Vlasko Polje and Mladenovac. This time as well the driver was attempting to drive around it, but no one was injured in that case. However, such incidents usually end tragically.
Serbian Railway Infrastructure is therefore warning and appealing on all participants in traffic to respect signalization, drive carefully and be responsible towards themselves and others, because that is the only way to prevent such accidents and save human lives.
