Fire breaks out in Belgrade, in the same building where 7 people died last year
It is not known how the fire started
A fire has broken out in the residential building in 110 Milutina Milankovica Boulevard in New Belgrade - the same building where seven residents died in a catastrophic fire in March of last year.
As Telegraf.rs has learned, the fire broke out on a terrace and spread inside. No one was injured. Three fire trucks were sent to the scene.
The fire that broke out in this building last year killed six people as a result of carbon monoxide inhalation, while the seventh victim died later in the hospital from their injuries.
That fire broke out at around four in the morning on the 8th floor of the building, and then spread to several more apartments. The blaze unseen by Belgraders before started in the apartment of Zoran S. (61), who was disabled, and then quickly spread to the apartments above his.
Three members of one family were killed at the time: mother Ljiljana, father Zoran and son Aleksandar, as well as wife and husband Marija (45) and Aleksandar N. (47), and Leposava L. (88).
The higher public prosecutor's office in Belgrade determined that the cause of the fire was malfunction in one of the electrical installations, therefore nobody was held responsible.
