Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are set to virtually attend the start of production of Sputnik V Covid vaccine in Serbia - beginning at 5:30 am on Friday afternoon.

President Vucic and President of Russia Vladimir Putin will virtually attend the launch of the making of the first Sputnik V vaccine in Serbia.

The components for creating the vaccine arrived in Serbia last night.

The plan is to produce four million Sputnik V vaccines in the initial period of four to six months.

On May 19, the Russian Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology confirmed the quality of the vaccine test-produced at Serbia's Torlak Institute and approved the Sputnik V to be made by this Serbian institute going forward.

Serbia will thus become the first country in Europe to produce the Covid vaccine.
