Pantelic prevents coup in Serbian FA: Deputy president dismisses Bjekovic, 4 other board members
He at the same time appointed four new members
On Monday, May 24, Marko Pantelic, Deputy President of the football association of Serbia (FSS), decided to dismiss several members of the Executive Board, and appoint new ones!
Pantelic dismissed the following members of the FSS board: Nenad Bjekovic, Marjan Rnic, Dusan Mrakic, Dragan Ilic, and Branko Stojakovic.
Jovan Teodosic, Jugoslav Jugovic, Davor Jevremovic and Zoran Lekic have been appointed as members of the FSS Executive Board until the expiration of the remaining 2019-2023 term.
This decision will enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette of the FSS. On this occasion, Deputy President of the FSS Marko Pantelic stated:
"Today at 13:00 hours, in the Sports Center of the FSS, an attempt of a coup of sorts was underway in order to hold an unlawful session of the Executive Board of the FSS. According to the FSS Statute, only the president, deputy president or honorary president of the FSS can chair a session, and as I scheduled a session of the FSS Executive Board for Thursday, May 27, it is clear that some individuals have grossly abused the FSS Statute in order to prevent the changes that are inevitable."
"As a responsible person in the system of the FSS, I will not give up the fight to rid football and certain bodies of the FSS of those who abused it only for their narrow interests. Everything I do I do for a better tomorrow of Serbian football and attempts like this will not stop me from persevering in the fight for a cleaner, fairer and better football in Serbia," Pantelic announced.
