Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said today that matters concerning party bodies should not be discussed in the media, regardless of the democratic process in the SNS and the fact that everyone has the right to an opinion and position.

Replying to Tanjug journalists, who wanted to know whether he thinks he should resign after demands that he be removed from the position of the president of the SNS branch in Belgrade and from public office, Stefanovic said that he would talk about it with President Aleksandar Vucic.

"I am not one of those who care to be in any armchair at any cost, nor to be an official ever. My job is to try to make our Army stronger and for the Ministry of Defense to progress day by day, as well as to try to justify the trust given to me with my work," said Stefanovic.

He stressed that it was important for him that he worked in accordance with the law during his career and pointed out that he did not participate in activities that would endanger President Aleksandar Vucic or members of his family.

"Did I make mistakes in my work? For sure. I am always ready to answer for my mistakes. But to be in an armchair forever neither crosses my mind nor is it a priority for me," Stefanovic stressed.

He said that he would consult about everything else before making any any decision within his party, primarily with the president, whose trust he said he has to perform his function, and that he will announce the decision to the public once it has been made.
