People all over Croatia saw glowing objects in the sky last night: Here's what that was all about
The unusual sight caused a stir on social networks
Dozens of glowing objects seen in the sky above Croatia, moving in an orderly trajectory, caused a stir on social networks last night when various theories about what this might be appeared - and what it was is a communication satellite network launched by Elon Musk's company.
As people described it, dozens of glowing objects were passing through the sky in an orderly formation, the portal Dalmacija reported today.
The occurrence could be observed last night at around 9 pm from the whole of Dalmatia.
This was a network of Starlink communication satellites.
The satellites, it has been stated, are grouped densely together as they are, with the help of their own ion engines, slowly ascending to reach the final orbit 550 kilometers above Earth, at a speed of about 28,000 kilometers per hour. Once positioned, they will no longer be so noticeable and will be evenly distributed around the entire circumference of the planet. 60 Starlink satellites were launched from Florida on May 4.
At the moment they became visible from the area of Croatia, they were at an altitude of about 220 kilometers and were moving at a speed of about 27,000 kilometers per hour, the Croatian portal Index reported.
