First case of Indian coronavirus strain discovered in our neighborhood
The dangerous strain was detected in a younger patient (26), who exhibited milder symptoms
Romania has discovered the first case of a dangerous strain of coronavirus that is dominant in India, the Ministry of Health announced today.
The Indian strain was diagnosed in a younger patient (26), who arrived in Romania about a month ago and had milder symptoms, Reuters reports.
The ministry said the Romanian Institute of Public Health believes the detected mutated type of Covid-19 is not highly contagious, although it is believed to have caused a large number of new cases in India.
The ministry is also monitoring the focus of the coronavirus cases among construction workers who recently arrived from India to the district of Brasov.
Romania said that it had 1,850 new coronavirus cases in one day, which means that the total number of those infected since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic exceeded 1.05 million in that country, while 27,971 patients died.
