Kon: Slippery period still ahead of us. Vaccinated people should enjoy benefits, that's considered
A slippery period is ahead of is, said Kon
Epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ, Dr. Predrag Kon, spoke this morning for Happy TV about vaccination and the possible relaxing of Covid epidemiological measures in the coming period.
He revealed what is key to returning to everyday life that we knew before the epidemic, as well as whether people who have been vaccinated should be allowed to go to sporting events and various other gatherings, Mondo reports his statements made for Happy TV.
"Well, you see, as far as such situations are concerned, that there should be some positive discrimination, I think that everyone who is protected, those who have been vaccinated, who have antibodies or a negative PCR test should enjoy some benefits. That idea has been around for a while. You cannot talk about something like that if only 10 percent are vaccinated, because then there is very serious discrimination," said Dr. Kon.
He also stressed that the idea of relaxing measures for vaccinated people would certainly be epidemiologically acceptable.
"As an epidemiologist, I say that this idea is acceptable, but I don't know how socially acceptable it is. That's something that's coming on the agenda and the vision is that of a very near future. The question is who will control it all, and as medical professionals we cannot interfere in that, I can only say that it is all acceptable epidemiologically," said Dr. Kon.
Dr. Kon then referred to the issue of organizing parties as the main obstacle to the reopening of indoor seating areas in hospitality establishments.
"So far, we have worked on protecting those who are most endangered, but the virus is mostly circulating among people aged between 20 and 50, and we should now be motivated to vaccinate citizens in this age group more. We still have a slippery period ahead of us. The expectation of the Crisis HQ is to relax the measures, while citizens cannot understand that in that case they should respect the measures and be sure to wear masks except when consuming food and drinks. That's an escape from the truth. Does anyone think that people will behave differently in a closed part of a cafe? It can't go like that, weddings and festivities can't be approved like that, until everything is respected. We go back to the question again, if everyone was vaccinated, the situation would be different," he stressed.
