Violation of measures is very distimulating to doctors, it is a kind of defiance and only serves to lower the morale of healthcare workers, Predrag Kon, epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ for the fight against coronavirus said this morning. He told RTS that at the moment we are not in a bad epidemic situation at all, that we are coming out of the second peak of the third wave, and that certain indicators show that the situation is calming down and that numbers will be decreasing.

Asked if violations of the measures can be stopped, he said:

" I do not know. I think using some coercion is ruled out."

Kon said that numbers are still high but that we have stabilization at a high level.

"There is visible decline in Belgrade. On the other hand, some (businesses) should have been allowed to work. People who go to hospitality establishments' gardens should use masks when they are not consuming food, and there must be a gap between the tables. There must be fewer tables. Waiters and other staff will have to be warning the patrons," said Kon.

He added that the number of infected students is decreasing.

"We are constantly thinking about activating schools, but we should be aware that in some countries classes have been activated and there has been more infection again."

He said that Belgrade is the leader in vaccination and that the situation is bad in Pazar, Tutin...

"Whoever does not choose to be vaccinated has chosen the virus. Whether they will get it in a week, in a month. The virus is with us, it will survive," said Dr. Kon.
