March bares its teeth: Western Serbia covered in snow, it's 20 centimeters deep on Mt. Golija

All roads are currently passable

Heavy rain turned into sleet and snow during the night, with a white blanket covering western Serbia this morning. In the lower regions, snow is about five centimeters deep, while in mountainous areas of Zlatibor and Zlatar, the depth is over 10 centimeters.

"All roads are passable, our crews are on standby, there are no traffic jams, but due to the weather conditions, drivers are advised to be careful, especially when it comes to roads going via Zlatibor and Zlatar," Leko Koricanac, director of the public company Putevi Uzice, told RINA.

On Mt. Golija, the snow cover reached the depth of over 20 centimeters, but for now, all roads are passable.

"The snow that is falling is heavy and wet and that makes the situation more difficult, but vehicles are on the ground and constantly working on clearing the roads. In the city area, snow is from five to seven centimeters, while this precipitation did not cause major problems," the head of the sector for road maintenance at Putevi Ivanjica, Vitomir Arsovic, told the RINA agency.
