"Serbia received information, there is no document about Egypt recognizing so-called Kosovo"

"The provisional institutions in Pristina count Egypt among the countries that recognized them, and that's based only on a statement made by former President Morsi, three weeks before he was ousted from power," says Dragan Markovic Palma

The leader of United Serbia (JP) party, MP and president of the Assembly of the City of Jagodina, Dragan Markovic Palma, met today in Hurghada with the governor of the Red Sea, Major General Amr Hanafi.

During their conversation, Markovic and Hanafi agreed that bilateral relations between the two friendly countries are on an upward path, but that there is room for further strengthening of economic relations.

The JS leader said that the biggest problem for Serbia is the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija, that Serbia received information that there is no paper in Egypt stating that Egypt recognizes independence of our southern province, but that temporary Pristina institutions count Egypt among the countries that do, based only on a statement made by former President Morsi three weeks before he was ousted from power.

"It would mean a lot to Serbia if the friendly Egypt would officially issue a statement saying that a document about the recognition of Kosovo does not exist," he said.

Referring to several top Kosovo Albanian politicians, he also said that the greatest war criminals from Kosovo and Metohija are today in prison in The Hague, where they are on trial for crimes committed in our southern province.

Governor of the Red Sea General Amr Hanafi said that he would talk about that (the recognition issue) with his colleagues in the government.

Markovic said that today, Serbia is an economically stable and strong country, the second in Europe in terms of the number of vaccinated people, primarily thanks to the policy of President Aleksandar Vucic.

Markovic added that Egypt and Serbia have a lot of room for strengthening economic cooperation, that an agreement was recently signed allowing for imports of grain from Serbia, while the number of tourists coming to Egypt from Serbia is growing, but that economic cooperation still needs to be developed and strengthened.

He invited General Hanafi to visit Serbia with a political and economic delegation, in order to intensify economic cooperation between the two countries.
