The current director is retiring, the new director will take office tomorrow
At today's meeting the Government of Serbia relieved director of Posta Srbije (Serbian postal service) Mira Petrovic of her duties. The reason is her retirement.
Former Minister of Labor and Social Policy Zoran Djordjevic has been appointed to take her place, it has been confirmed for Telegraf Biznis.
According to our source close to Djordjevic, the new director will be at his new job at 6 am tomorrow.
Zoran Djordjevic is a master of economic sciences and a prominent official of the ruling SNS party. He was the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense from 2013, and in 2016 became the Minister of Defense. In the Government of Ana Brnabic, in 2017, he became the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, where he remained until November 2020.
While serving in the government, he gave an interview for Telegraf Biznis on Labor Day, in which he spoke for the first time about the problems workers are facing during the coronavirus epidemic and how employers should respond to them.
As previously announced, Posta Srbije is the first on the list of public companies whose problems need to be solved.
"The ministry I manage is dedicated to solving the problems of public companies in our country. Given the importance of Posta Srbije, it is extremely important for us to work together to overcome the challenges they face and improve the position of employees," Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanaskovic said recently.
There have been strikes at Poste Srbije, staged by dissatisfied workers, but new investments have also been announced. Posta Srbije marked its the 180th anniversary under the slogan "Turning to the future."
According to data, that company achieved a profit of 2.2 billion dinars in 2019 (total revenues were 25.9 billion dinars) and provided 420.4 million services.
Public postal traffic in Serbia officially began with the opening of the first post office in Belgrade - on June 7, 1840. For 180 years, Posta Srbije has been a pillar of communication in society and a symbol of connecting people.
