Police operation in progress: Communal police officers arrested
More details will be known after the interrogation of the arrested police officers and the final stance of the prosecution
Secretary for Communal Police Affairs Ivan Divac has told Beoinfo that this morning, after several months of investigation, five members of the Communal Police were arrested.
He stressed that on the initiative of the Sector of Internal Control of the Communal Police, cooperation was established with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Sector of Internal Control of the Ministry of the Interior and the Department for the Fight against Corruption.
"After several months of investigation, five communal police officers were arrested this morning on suspicion of abuse of office and trading in influence. The determination in the work of the Communal Police is, among other things, 'cleaning up its own ranks' because we are not hiding behind problems, but we hope that there will be no more such situations going forward," said Divac.
"The public will be informed in a timely manner about the outcome of the procedure conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to which I want to thank for cooperation and support it provides to the Communal Police so that our job is done better, so that all citizens of Belgrade can benefit from it," he added.
More details will be known after the interrogation of the arrested police officers and the final stance of the prosecution.
