Dr. Kon on the worsening situation, especially in Belgrade: If this continues we'll tighten measures

Other members of the Crisis HS are also warning about a deteriorating Covid situation

Epidemiologist Predrag Kon reacted today on Facebook to the worsened epidemiological situation. As he wrote, if things continue like this, more rigorous protective measures will follow.

"The worsening of the epidemiological situation cannot be ignored, especially in Belgrade. If the deterioration continues, the measures will have to be tightened, in order to prevent a new wave (of coronavirus)," wrote Kon.

During the previous four non-working days in Serbia (the weekend, plus the 2-day national holiday) the communal police was very busy, especially during the weekend when several raids were carried out, with organizers of parties brought in and kept in custody.

The worsening of the epidemiological situation is expected in the coming days due to winter vacationing that many Serbians took during the holidays. Mountain resorts, especially on Zlatibor and Kopaonik, were full.

4,261 people have died from Covid in Serbia since the beginning of the epidemic, and yesterday alone the disease claimed another 16 lives.

As members of the Crisis HQ are stressing, we could feel the consequences of this past weekend in seven to 10 days.
