"Mexico City" in Belgrade's Dorcol, video from scene of blast: In this street cafes pop like popcorn

As firefighters were extracting fuel from a parked car, their truck blocked passage

The end of Dobracina Street - it's fancy cafes tucked away in the industrial zone near Dunavska Street. A dilapidated home here and there, old buildings and gloomy paths to a trolleybus depot.

This "Mexico City" neighborhood in the middle of Belgrade has been rocked by bomb explosions twice in the last three months. The targets were precisely these exclusive establishments.

This morning at around five o'clock, an explosion was heard from one of the cafes, the glass of the "Przionica D59B" shop scattered, parked cars and a facade were damaged, while shrapnel from the blast caused the tank to burst in one vehicle and the fuel to spill.

Police tape, firefighters, confused passers-by - that's what an "ordinary" morning in Belgrade's Dorcol neighborhood looked like.

As firefighters were extracting fuel from a parked car, their truck blocked passage. At the same time, a driver was parking their car as usual, without fear that something might happen.

Our reporters also peeked inside the cafe, behind the broken down door.

Nothing to see there, the neighbors would say. In October, the next-door establishment, "Holesterol," also exploded.

True, that explosion happened in the dead of night, at 1:55 am.

As a security guard from a nearby building told Telegraf.rs at the scene, as soon as he heard the detonation, he called the police.

"I immediately went outside and informed the police, who came to the scene and carried out their investigation. I was scared, the detonation was strong. I didn't seen anyone near the restaurant," said the guard.

Fortunately, in both cases, there were no injuries, apart from material damage.

Still, such things are not pleasant at all, and residents and passers-by have reason to fear every time it gets dark.
