New aid arrives for fight against coronavirus: Brnabic welcomes a plane with Bahrain's donation

Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic attended the welcoming of a plane with a donation from Bahrain, meant to help the fight against coronavirus.

The plane, which landed at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport shortly before 9 am, contains protective medical equipment for the fight against Covid.

The Government of Serbia announced that it is one of the largest individual donations to Serbia since the beginning of the epidemic.

"I would like to thank the Kingdom of Bahrain for this generous donation, which is also the largest donation since the beginning of the epidemic that Serbia has received. In five flights since March, 67.5 tons of medical equipment arrived from this country. This last shipment contains 20 ventilators as well," said the prime minister.

"On November 24, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spoke with the King of Bahrain and they discussed improvement of political and economic relations, and during that conversation, the ruler of Bahrain offered all the support and assistance to Serbia in the fight against coronavirus that we need," the prime minister said at the airport.

As a result of that conversation, five planes with 67.5 tons of medical equipment have arrived.

According to her, the Government of Serbia will work diligently to improve political and economic relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain.

"This is the best possible start. I also thank our national airline Air Serbia for everything they have done during the epidemic, because without them, donations and help from all over the world would not have arrived so quickly," she said.

The prime minister said that this is proof of the reputation that Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic enjoy in the world, and that it speaks to the importance of having friends around the world.

"I am satisfied with everything we, and above all President Vucic, have done since 2014, which is returning to us in this way during this most difficult crisis since the Second World War. Thanks to the Kingdom of Bahrain, an extremely respectable country in the Arab and Islamic world," she stressed and invited the King of Bahrain to visit Serbia.

When it comes to the distribution of the aid, the prime minister said that it will be done according to the needs of healthcare institutions and the healthcare system.
