Snow that has been falling since yesterday has formed a cover 40 centimeters deep on Mt. Zlatibor, so traffic on the main road towards Montenegro is slow, especially in the area of Borova Glava, where a pileup occurred today.

As evidenced in the photos published on the Facebook page of Uzice-Oglasna Tabla, several vehicles were involved in the accident, including a truck, while the front part of one of the cars was completely smashed. There is no information about any injuries.

A towing service is at the scene.

"We expect even more intense snowfall, and our teams are on the ground around the clock, working on clearing roads, using 12 trucks. Our appeal to all drivers is to adjust their speed to the conditions on the road and have appropriate winter equipment," said Leko Koricanac, director of the public road maintenance company Putevi Uzice.

On the heights of Mt. Zlatar, snow cover reached a half a meter, and some routes in mountain villages there are completely blocked for passenger vehicles.

"In Ljepojevici, Javor, Prevoj and Vodena Pecina, only trucks are able to pass, (snow clearing) machines are out in the field, so we hope that everything will be passable by tomorrow morning. A large number of our locals celebrate St. Stephen's Day and we must not allow them to get snowed in for their family patron saint feast (slava)," said Rade Vasiljevic, the president of the municipality of Nova Varos.

In the area of the municipality of Ivanjica, snow is currently about 40 centimeters deep in the higher-lying areas, while in the lower areas of the municipality, the depth is from five to ten centimeters.

"The snow is still falling, getting deeper and deeper by the hour. As soon as the precipitation stops, we will start clearing the snow. Currently, the highest rate of precipitation is on the section Preko Brdo-Odvracenica, so this direction is currently impassable," the president of the municipality of Ivanjica, Momcilo Mitrovic, told RINA.

The snowfall has been relentless in Sjenica, too, where snow was over 40 centimeters deep on Friday in the higher areas, while due to bad weather conditions, 17 villages have been left without electricity supply once again.

"We are snowed in again and in total chaos, this is unbearable. We haven't had electricity for 48 hours, the roads have not been cleared, as if we live in the Wild West," says one of the locals in the Pester Plateau villages.

Snow started falling in Belgrade as well this Friday.

According to the Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ), a snow cover of 15 to 30 centimeters is expected to form on the hills and mountains during the afternoon, while the lower parts of northern and southern Serbia will see rain in some places. During the night, snow cover will form in some places, and the temperature will drop.
