The Lidl retail chain has recalled a sesame paste product from the market due to excessive amount of plant protection products found in it.

Lidl informed customers about this via its website. The product is called "1001 delights Susam pasta (sesame paste)", packaged in 120-gram jars, and manufactured by WEIAND GmbH.

"The reason for the withdrawal is that the product is not in accordance with the Regulation of the European Union and the Rulebook of the Republic of Serbia about the maximum permitted amounts of traces of plant protection products in food and animal feed, as it has been determined that it contains an increased amount of ethylene oxide," it is stated on Lidl's site.
