Vucic: Vaccination against Covid starts tomorrow, we'll see if Brnabic, Darija or I will get it

The first to receive the vaccine will be residents in nursing homes

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced today that vaccination against coronavirus in Serbia, with the Pfizer vaccine, will start tomorrow.

"We procured it independently, we are probably the only country outside the EU that managed to procure some vaccines. There is salvation in the vaccine. We will start tomorrow in nursing homes because it is important for us to protect these people. We're starting immediately. ALIMS (Serbian medicines agency) received samples of other vaccines, they will continue to do their job, and then we expect larger quantities. The vaccine is the salvation, the vaccine has saved humanity, without it some other diseases would not have been eradicated," said Vucic.

"It is terribly important that we start vaccination as soon as possible. And someone from top state leadership will receive the vaccine, whether it will be Ana Brnabic, Darija Kisic Tepavcevic or myself, we'll see," Vucic added.

As he announced, two doses per person will be set aside in advance.

"I have faith that the EU will distribute new quantities of vaccines to us, that there will no waiting. Our obligation is to find a vaccine and to take care of our citizens," the president of Serbia said.

Larger quantities of the vaccine should arrive in January and February.

The Pfizer vaccine arrived in Serbia yesterday when a shipment of 4,875 doses was delivered.
