Brnabic: 3 coronavirus vaccines will arrive in Serbia in certain quantities by the end of the year

Vaccination should start in the next few days

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic said today that she hopes that vaccination in Serbia will begin in the next few days and pointed out that Serbia has signed an agreement with three producers - the US company Pfizer, the Russian Gamaleya Institute for the Sputnik vaccines and the Chinese Sinopharm for Sinovac vaccines.

"I expect that all three vaccines will arrive in certain quantities by the end of the year. You will know exactly what quantities will arrive when they do. At the moment, negotiations are still underway with the manufacturer. You can see that Pfizer reduced the amount that was supposed to arrive in certain countries in December and January by almost 50 percent. That is constantly changing," Brnabic told reporters.

She stressed that it is especially important that Serbia will receive the vaccine in December and that it will not have to depend on the readiness of EU partners or on procurement through the Covax mechanism, but will also receive vaccines thanks to bilateral agreements.

"Regarding the vaccination plan, the Batut Institute has developed one. I hope that the vaccination will start in the next few days, and it is up to professional services to determine the priorities,"  said Brnabic.
