Vucic: Many will be surprised by Serbia's relationship with the new US administration
Many important roles will be played by people who participated in advocating aggression against our country in the 1990s, but we will cultivate good relations with America - said the president of Serbia
Many will be surprised by our relationship with the new US administration, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, adding that Serbia will cultivate good relations with America, although many important roles will be played by people who participated in advocating aggression against our country in the 1990s.
"We will not endanger anyone's territorial integrity, but we will continue to work hard and fight to make our economy as strong as possible. The personal relationship I have with Biden is much better than I have with Trump, and we will seek to build the best relations with them," said the president of Serbia.
He also referred to reports in media from the region, which speak critically about him.
"The criticisms is directed towards the protection of Serbian interests in the region. A strong Serbia is a hindrance to some in the region. We will not endanger anyone's territorial integrity, but we will continue to work hard and fight to make our economy as strong as possible," the president of Serbia said after laying the cornerstone of the Toyo Tires factory in Indjija.
He said that neither as a people, nor as a state, can we not stand aside and not help our people wherever they live.
He pointed out that it is enough to look at the rights of Serbs in Montenegro and Albanians in North Macedonia, and everything will be clear, as well as the attitude of the international community towards us.
He pointed out that it was unacceptable for Serb leaders to call themselves Hitler's followers, and for the international community to remain silent, even though Serbs are known to be the most suffering of the Yugoslav peoples, especially when it comes to the anti-fascist side.
"I am a little surprised by the international silence," said Vucic, adding that Serbia will not cause any fear among others, will respect everyone else, work to help our people without endangering territorial integrity, but is also without being afraid to say what it thinks about some issues and work diligently.
He pointed out that nowhere in the region can it be read that Serbia will have the highest economic growth in Europe, but only outside the region, in the German Bild, for example.
"Only a weak Serbia is good enough for some. Unlike them, we want everyone else to be strong, for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia as our partner, Montenegro, Albania to be strong. We want them to be stronger because only if they are strong can we be strong and much stronger. It's a different policy, and the difference we are trying to make," he added.
