Serbian Church's Synod in first meeting after Patriarch Irinej's funeral: 2 things to be discussed

The Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) will hold its first meeting today after the funeral of Patriarch Irinej, the SPC told Tanjug.

As expected, the date of the assembly to elect the new patriarch will most likely not be set during the meeting.

The election assembly for the 46th patriarch of the Serbian Church will be scheduled only once 40 days have passed since the death of Patriarch Irinej.

As Tanjug was told by the SPC, the meeting will discuss the work of the Synod and of the Serbian Orthodox Church until the election assembly.

The members of the Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, chaired by Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabro-Bosnia, include Irinej of Backa, Jovan of Sumadija, David of Krusevac and Porfirije of Zagreb- Ljubljana.
