Serbia headed for worst day since epidemic started. Brnabic: I expect more than 5,000 new cases

The data this morning at 8 o'clock was worse than at the same time yesterday

Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic says that she expects there will be more than 5,000 new coronavirus cases in Serbia today.

Speaking at the National Academy of Public Administration, she said that the data this morning at 8 o'clock was worse than at the same time yesterday.

Brnabic added that at this moment there is no reason for schools to switch to online classes, adding that further steps will be discussed with the Crisis HQ, considering that citizens are worried the most about whether kindergartens and schools will remain open, reports Tanjug.

She explained that the measures that came into force have been planned until December 1, but that this does not mean the authorities will wait until then if there are no results in a few days.

"We will not wait for December 1 to bring additional measures if we see that these measures are not producing results. We will wait three, four, five days to see the indicators. I know that inspectors worked last night, that we had good results, that closing time was at 9 pm. We will continue to monitor," said Brnabic.

Brnabic also stated that schools and kindergartens are the safest places for now, but that she will ask members of the Crisis HQ to make their recommendations at any time they think that's needed, whether to extend the school break or switch to online classes, for which she said she saw no reason at this moment.
