Director of the Clinical Center of Serbia (KCS) Milika Asanin says that the epidemiological situation in Serbia is not good, that it is even unfavorable and that it threatens to get out of control.

He told TV Pink that in the first wave there were a maximum of 445 new cases on a daily basis, that in the second wave, the highest number was on July 26 when there were 467 newly infected people - and that we have now reached about 5,000 new cases per day.

The situation is the least favorable in Belgrade, and Asanin said that two or three weeks go Covid clinics had about 3,500 examinations on a daily basis, while yesterday saw a record of 5,600 examinations of people who had respiratory problems or fever.

"From such large numbers, many end up in admission-triage clinics. We had about 1,000 patients at the Infectious Diseases Clinic during the weekend from Friday until Sunday, and there were 350 in the day behind us," said Asanin.

He pointed out that the capacity of the Infectious Diseases Clinic has been filled, that there are more than 90 patients who are hospitalized, and a dozen on ventilators.

As for those patients who are hospitalized, Asanin said that at the beginning of the third wave most were aged between 20 to 40, a while later the age span was 30 to 50, while patients who are over 60 dominate now.

"One in three patients who comes to admission-triage clinics now is fit for hospital treatment," he concluded.
