Assistant Minister of Agriculture arrested
She has been arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes
Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Daria Janjic Nisavic, was arrested today on suspicion of committing the crime of accepting bribes, it has been confirmed for Telegraf.rs.
"Everyone who abuses their official position will be sanctioned, we are actively participating in the fight against corruption," Telegraf.rs was told by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Handcuffs were also placed on D.C. for the crime of giving bribes.
As announced by the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, there are grounds for suspicion that suspect D.J.N. would be receiving monthly installments from suspect D.C. in exchange for promising advantage in securing a contract in the public procurement procedure of the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of services, which is supported by a foreign fund for financing agriculture.
"On the order of the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, after several months of pre-investigative procedure, today at around 12 o'clock police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police Directorate and the Service for Fighting Organized Crime arrested two people: D.J.N., Assistant Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Serbia, for the criminal offense of accepting bribes under Article 367 of the Criminal Code, and D.C. for the criminal offense of giving bribes under Article 368 of the Criminal Code," the prosecutor's office announced.
The suspect D.J.N. was promised payments in the amount of about 1,000 euros per month over the next two years, as long as the public procurement contract in question was valid.
Searches of premises are ongoing.
The suspects are detained by the police and will be taken before the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime along with a criminal complaint.
