Prime Minister of Provisional Institutions of Pristina Avdullah Hoti said today, after his meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, that there has been progress in the dialogue, but that if Belgrade and Pristina do not reach mutual recognition, they will remain "two neighboring independent states who do not know each other."

He also told a press conference that the agreement reached to normalize economic relations was a big step towards a final agreement, but that complete normalization can only be achieved through mutual recognition, the Reporters portal said.

"We are committed to dialogue, one month, two months or one year. If we don't reach a final agreement, we have nothing else to do. We will continue as two independent neighboring states that do not know each other," said Hoti.

Varhelyi assessed that he saw progress and commitment to dialogue, and added that he knew the negotiations that must be conducted are not easy.

"But there's momentum that has started to develop," said Varhelyi.

Speaking about visa liberalization, he said that EU members must make sure that all conditions are met, which is not an easy task, reports Koha.

"This can only be achieved by working on certain areas and by achieving results," said Varhelyi.
