By choosing the name of the prime minister-designate, who will put together a new government, the first step towards the formation of the executive branch of power in Serbia has been made. In his address yesterday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the challenges ahead of the country, and thus ahead of the new government are pressure on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, strengthening the country's economic and healthcare power, and military and defense capabilities.

As the most important challenge, the president singled out the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, around which, he says, pressure is the greatest.

"It's our obligation while facing challenges - and the biggest are pressure around Kosovo and Metohija and an attempt to force Serbia to recognize the independence of Kosovo without gaining almost anything - with the desire to always express our intention to talk and reach a compromise solution, to certainly not accept humiliation of the citizens of Serbia and our citizens in Kosovo and Metohija," said Vucic.

Another challenge facing the government, he says, is the health situation and how we will deal with coronavirus when colder days come and the virus is more strongly present.

"The third challenge is how to manage to maintain the economic rhythm we have had so far during coronavirus, closed borders with Europe and the world," Vucic added.

At the same time, the government has three goals ahead of it, which it must work on.

Thus the main task of the future government is for Serbia to remain one of the most successful European countries, to ensure further growth of the living standard of citizens, despite the fact that this is impossible during the "corona crisis."

At the same time, an important goal is to strengthen healthcare power, which is becoming one of the key forces of a country, Vucic pointed out and recalled that Serbia invested much more in healthcare in the past few than in the previous 40 or 50 years.

In addition, the goal is to strengthen the country's military and defense power, and to strengthen the army and the police.
