Vaccination of citizens against seasonal flu begins today in healthcare centers in Serbia.

The state has provided more than 500,000 doses this year, about 200,000 from the Torlak Institute, and about 344,000 from foreign suppliers.

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar yesterday made an appeal to chronic patients and patients with comorbidities to get vaccinated and to use this extremely favorable epidemiological situation regarding coronavirus.

"Now, the risk of going to a health center and getting vaccinated is the lowest. The flu vaccine will help a lot in the fight against coronavirus," the minister told reporters in Belgrade.

He said that distribution of the pneumococcal vaccine to all homes for the elderly has begun and that there is enough for all users and employees.

"There are vaccines for others who are not in nursing homes, because it has shown a good result and prevents greater consequences from coronavirus," said Loncar.

He noted that both vaccines are free, i.e., provided at the expense of the state.
