Pristina pays tribute to another US politician: Memorial plaque unveiled to US Senator Bob Dole

A memorial plaque dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the visit of the first US Senate delegation led by Senator Bob Dole was unveiled on Zahir Pajaziti Square in Pristina, Klan Kosova Television said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Meliza Haradinaj Stubla said that this day "marked a great turning point for the freedom and independence of Kosovo."

"It's a special emotion, I was only six years old, and there are fresh memories of this day when the US Senate delegation under strict security measures of Serbian forces came to visit Kosovo and said that democracy and freedom was coming for the Albanian people and it meant a big turn for freedom and independence of the Republic of Kosovo," said Haradinaj Stubla.
