A year ago, at about ten o'clock in the morning, an argument was taking place in the family home of the painter Gajic in the town of Sabac - followed by a crime. Brothers Bogdan (20) and Ignjat (24), a source close to Telegraf revealed, first quarreled and then, blood was spilled. A trace remained on the carpets, which was later noticed by the police. It was also reportedly noticed by the young men's parents, but they were not alarmed by it.

As suspected, Bogdan beat his brother to death that morning. He punched him with a knuckleduster, and then, while the victim was unconscious, stabbed him with a knife. He then hid the body in a shed, in the yard of the house where they lived, and in the early morning hours the next day tried to transport it to a place where a hole dug in the ground was discovered.

Before Bogdan even tried to reach that spot in the extension of Oslobodjenja Street, where the house is located, his parents and the third, youngest brother returned home from a trip. As a source revealed for our portal, they didn't find it suspicious that their eldest son was missing.

When the suspect in the murder, Bogdan, thought that family members had all fallen asleep, he put his brother's body in a wheelbarrow, covered it with a white sheet and at 3 am a day after the murder, on August 20, 2019, moved towards the public company JKP Vodovod, next to whose grounds the hole had been dug. His unsteady walk and the looks he was taking over his shoulder were recorded by surveillance cameras. The young man was also noticed by a police patrol.

He was then taken into custody, and a criminal complaint for murder was filed with the Prosecutor's Office. A day later, Bogdan was questioned in the Higher Prosecutor's Office, which took over the investigation into this domestic tragedy. On the same day, August 21, his older brother was buried, while Bogdan's name was included in the death notice as one of the mourners.

During the first questioning by the police, Bogdan denied that he planned to kill his brother. However, he said that the eldest brother had been harassing the whole family for a long time, above all him. Allegedly, Ignjat often started arguments, caused damage around the house and attacked family members.

At that time, the Center for Social Welfare could not confirm to our journalist whether there had been any reports of domestic violence.

"While fully understanding for the public's interest in this event, we inform you that we are not able to provide you with information about whether any person is the Center for Social Welfare's records and whether they use some of our services, because the rulebook on organization, norms and standards of the Center states that all information about personal and family circumstances is confidential. According to the law, information that is important in a case can only be given to competent institutions," said the authorities from the Center for Social Welfare in Sabac.

However, it was learned unofficially that the murder victim, Ignjat Gajic, had no convictions, nor had he ever been detained by the police for any crime.

The Prosecution at the time remanded Bogdan Gajic in custody for up to 30 days.
